SOILCO Carbon

We believe organics belong in soil, not in landfill, and that the time for action is now. Organic materials sent to landfill generate methane – a greenhouse gas estimated to be approximately 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Diverting organics away from landfills for composting is a solution to this problem. We continue to lead the way with systems and products designed to help minimise climate change, conserve water and preserve our environment.

As an organisation we have spent decades assisting our customers to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions by diverting organic waste from landfill. We are also now working to reduce our own footprint by becoming a member of Sustainability Advantage. As part of the program we are currently working with expert consultants to prepare a Net Zero Pathway for our organisation. The Net Zero Pathway is scheduled to be completed in late 2023.

SOILCO has also recently established SOILCO Carbon, a subsidiary of SOILCO. SOILCO Carbon will be used to assist customers to realise the benefits of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) for any additional source separation activities and other approved methodologies.

SOILCO also prides itself on the use of new and low-carbon technologies to assist in the management of urban organic residues. Initiatives being investigated by SOILCO include the use of products and services to assist customers in obtaining ACCUs.

A great deal of the carbon once stored in the soil is now stored in the atmosphere. We urgently need to return this carbon back to the soil.
