From Waste War to Recycling Reboot, this week is National Recycling Week 2018!

In November 1996, Planet Ark founded National Recycling Week to bring a national focus to the environmental benefits of recycling. Now in its 23rd year, this established and highly regarded annual campaign continues to educate and stimulate behaviour change, by promoting kerbside, industrial and community recycling initiatives and giving people the tools to minimise waste and manage material resources responsibly at home, work and school.

Planet Ark launched RecyclingNearYou.com.au in November 2006.

By visiting the website, you can:

  • Find out about what you can and can’t recycle in your household recycling services.
  • Search for drop-off locations to recycle a wide range of items including electronic waste, batteries, printer cartridges, whitegoods, furniture and much more.

Since RecyclingNearYou.com.au was launched, there have been over 13.7 million visits to the site.

SOILCO is active in organics recycling at www.organicsrecycling.com.au

Organics Recycling Can Provide Significant Business Savings And A Positive Environmental Benefit. Diverting waste from landfill removes weight, odour and leachates from the general waste stream and can reduce waste removal fees and other handling requirements. In addition to receiving unprocessed organics, SOILCO has mobile equipment available for the utilisation in recycling garden organics or timber onsite. Services include onsite size reduction and removal of garden and timber waste. Diverting organic waste effectively “closes the loop”. This provides economical and environmental benefits, reducing the carbon footprint and leading to a more sustainable future.

ORGANICS THAT CAN BE PROCESSED INCLUDE:

  • GARDEN AND TIMBER WASTE.
  • COMMERCIAL FOOD.
  • AGRICULTURAL WASTES.
