MASS PLANTINGS & NATIVES

Mass planting is usually a low maintenance type of landscaping designed to cover large areas. Planting large numbers of individual species can create visual blocks of colour and texture, while careful spacing can reduce weeds and minimise erosion.

Most commonly the species grown are ornamental or native grasses and perennials with low nutrient requirements. Plants are selected for hardiness, drought tolerance and may be fast growing to cover the space quickly.

Due to the volumes of plants that may need to be installed, the growing media needs to have consistent physical and chemical characteristics to reduce plant losses and ensure establishment.
